Back in the day I did my share of rappelling and even some roped mountain climbing (rather go down that up). There is nothing like getting into a cute harness (careful guys) and hanging all God gave you out over nothing. Nothing beats the sheer cliff above the Hiwassee river near Benton, TN. How many times have I been roped in, had a guy on top belay I have known for years, and still be terrified to back off that cliff one more time. Always this experience required trust. But the reward and view and the confidence that followed has never been matched. Thanks Mike, Steve, Ben and TWM crew for this life lesson!
Well this has come to mind lately as I lead my family to hang off the cliff into this unknown of full time missions. I keep focusing on the sheer cliff and not on the the sustainer who is anchored in truth and has proven over and over He can be trusted. The rope is secure, the guide trustworthy, but the step is a big one.
Pray for us and for my faith as we step out into what God has been showing us FOR YEARS! Now action is required, and partners are needed. My faith is weak – yet HE is strong.
